At the end of the meeting yesterday with invited Forum members you identified independence and ring fencing of money as the key issues. I run an independent website for Forums and my contributors and I heartily agree with you. (ppif.org.uk)
I would add that a National Body could, with adequate support, regulate and develop Local bodies ("Care Watch" bodies was suggested rather than the non-specific "LINKs"): ensure adequate recruitment, proper reporting of activity, budget controls and patient safety oriented training for inspection of premises and contracts.
An elected National Body is being formed, if CPPIH promises are fulfilled, and with proper support it could guarantee the independence we all see as so necessary.
It is reassuring to know you are a physician. More General Physicians are the key to improving diagnostic accuracy.
