Last update 24th. October 2004
Camden PCT discussed problems with recruitment to Forums at its September meeting and asked me to write to the Camden MPs to ask Parliamentary Questions on the problems of recruitment.
Glenda Jackson MP tabled five questions for written answers by Ministers (in this case Rosie Winterton in Department of Health):
Question: Average time between application, interview and recruitment of members onto Forums.
Answer: average time is 29 days between application and formal acceptance for both England and London.
Question: number of Forums with less than seven members
Answer: as of June 2004, out of total of 572 Forums, 52 had less than 7 members (8 of these Forums were in London)
Question: ethnic minority representation as % of Forum membership
Answer: 10% nationally. No separate figures nationally
Question: Number of Forums with at least seven members
Answer:486 nationally (58 In London)
Question: future appointments responsibility post CPPIH abolition
Answer: NHS Appointments Commission
I've summarised the questions and answers a bit. The questions are numbers: PQ07388-PQ07392, 2003/4. Answers are dated 11 October 2004. They have yet to be given Hansard References.
I wondered whether this was a subject to test the experience of those accessing the PPIF website. The answers seem at serious odds with the experience I've heard of.
